no...there is actually plenty of room in there once the tv board is removed which takes up the whole of the space behind the left speaker.....

For RICK (Glucifer) .......... basically its a 5" monitor screen with an AV input......i used a scart sized freeview unit with L & R audio outs....

Used spare terminals on the TV TAPE RADIO selector pcb switch to switch a 6 volt supply from the scart freeview and monitor supplies (these tranies are mounted in the box too)....

Extended the buttons on the monitor like TV/AV Volume etc etc and mounted them in the side of the sharp

think i hard wired the L & R audio out from the scart freeview to the L & R in on the box

Mounted the remote pickup sensor in the place where the tv tuning dial was....

Mounted the USB socket to the rear case of the box

Hard wired a freeview indoor ribbon type ariel to the inside of the back case

I think that was pretty much the job done.........

Cool!
That is very close to what I want to do.
Grab a TV Boombox and put in an Android tablet.

I'm on the fence on this one. :-/ .. If the old crt is shot maybe, but technology moves so fast now days I don't see the android being a good long-term choice. In the distant future I imagine (IMO) the boxes will be way cooler and more desired left 'Bone stock'.

Thats just my opinion, no slam on Daves mod.

Fantastic work, Dave!!! I'd dreamed of doing this, but thought it might be too hard to get working.

Any chance of a bit of a walkthrough as to how you did it and how the power and controls all work out?

Congratulations for sticking with this idea through to completion, kudos aplenty.

Rock On.

Agree with Rick! :agree: But am curious like he is. Did you find a way to get it to work with the original controls? :hmmm: :-D

Now, if I could just find a way to fit a cassette transport into this:
