since the casing was in a bit of a state I reluctantly decided to go for a respray not knowing if the finish might spoil the box.
I took a piece from a spare box to a paint specialist and had them colour match it.
I sanded the box with 800 grit paper and carefully taped it up, ive resprayed cars before and know that the prep is everything with spraying.
I practiced on a spare casing before attempting this one just to be sure the match and finish is good.
I can never wait for paint to be fully dry before removing the masking
pretty good finish, I couldnt get the really deep scratches out but I think there is only 2 on the side, well I probably could if I spent longer on it using some kind of filler.
Reassembled...
So there you have it, very pleased with the finish, not a bad match, I havnt done the bottom part yet (where the headphone socket sits)
Also I have 8 spray cans of the colour match paint available should anyone want some, £16 ea posted. I had to buy 10 to make it worthwhile as they already mixed that amount of paint. Ill be keeping one or two for the next project.
Just waiting on the new cassette door and few other bits.
