after just a good clean and new speakers, it really does sound as good as new, so hopefully its got a few years life left in it yet

Great Thread Sean.

I just finished reading this whole thread top to bottom. Really top notch work! That's radio looks brand new. The fresh paint on the grills and the black speakers really make it POP!

Nice work...very inspiring....I have a JVC that needs a full tear down and clean up that I am looking forward to getting into.

You should repost the first picture and the last picture for a Before and After comparison so I don't have to keep skipping back to the first page to compare your improvements! . . . I tried to do it but couldn't copy your pictures into my reply post . . .

really nice resto sean, I need to think about stripping 2 or 3 of mine for the same treatment :thumbsup:

thanks, im pleased with the outcome, it looks good for and almost 3decade old radio. i have many other pictures, but the site wont me upload them no more :hmmm: :annoyed:

just to finish it off ive decided to repaint the speakers after all. ive done them in matte white. i made a cone from rolled up paper to protect the caps and masked the edges. pics below: let me know what you think
