If you look closely it is ugly paint finish with lots of defects on the box showing up. In coatings we call it telegraphing.... when defects from the substrate show up in the surface of the coating. From a 6' distance it might look appealing.

Even the speaker edges were painted, one thing you do not do, so it can't sound that good as they are covered in thick paint
