That's great new that you've found the problem.

Basically, Monolithic is absolutely right.

I can confirm the the 777\767 speakers will never give out the bass you are looking for. Even so, the unit should be loud. In the 80s my cousing had a three-piecer and that was louder than his friends 767, but at the time I still remember the 767 being stupidly loud.

The stock standard speakers are not made for deep bass, they are made for a more punchy\boxey bass that is good for rock. I replaced mine and I've never looked back. If you are will to replace at least the centre speakers, let's just say you won't be dissappointed because all I can say is that the amps are definately putting out those low frequencies.

Also, Stormin points out quite regularly that some of the capacitors may have dried up over the years so that may account for some of the problems.

MONOLITHIC

No Longer Active
Yeah, I think that might be the best way to describe the 777 series - GREAT ROCK BOXES!

That said, if Rock or Metal is all that's gonna be played on that box, there's no need to replace anything.

Gracias for all the info! Also, the box performs well at low volume for my midnight space voyages. :angelic:

Question: Does anyone know what the TRUE wattage speaker output? My model is the 767W.

Gracias!

:-D I have a 767 and it does sound ver ygood to my ears but when it came to the bass the wooferscould handle it, Thats when I put better sounding woofers and the 767 sounds even better than the 777. The 767 has a strong amp but the original speakers are no good for bass, It needs to be replaced with the same ohms but with at least 30 watts and you'll here the diference as the anp drives them with no problems and goes louder without distortion.

For as big as the dust caps are on those subwoofers the coils are like a half inch in diameter.
Thats pretty lame

What replacement speakers did you use?
