Congratulations GS, real nice looker, I own one myself as well so I know how good it sounds! Actually found my 7979 in the dump of all places, I have an ongoing thread on how I'm fixing a few niggles with it, in pretty good shape, and near 100% working now too.

I'm amazed how sought-after these are, every time someone gets one he becomes a celebrity and gets so many offers! Enjoy it, those 8" drivers sure put out a lot of sound! As my Dad says, if you want bass, the speaker has to be big, simply a physical law, no ways around it. He's got a pair of 15" drivers in 4 foot by 4 foot folded horn cabinets, goes down to 16 cycles lol.

Cheers!

Ha. I'm all talk. I don't have the funds for either box in my signature. Just hoping for a garage sale score miracle.

That is a really nice looking machine for sure. I will need to keep an eye out for something like this. I doubt it will be in this kind of shape but I can dream right?

Usually boxes with a digital clock will have a separate battery tray that holds battery for the clock only.

yes has own battery
Thanks. I was sure that was the case. It makes sense because you wouldn't want the clock to reset when you switch from battery to house current or during the change of batteries
