Hi all, bought a Sanyo MR-V2CD today and struggling to find any info, nevermind the service manual. Anyone own one of these beauties?

Thanks,

Never mind Hopey. That looks like a Japan domestic unit correct? If so, it basically doesn't exist outside of Japan unless it was imported by someone either through Yahoo.jp or more recently, through eBay.

Here's some info which is probably in Japanese if you can find a way to translate it, AFTER you buy it.
brochure from Yahoo Japan

As for service manual.... ONLY in japan my friend. Doesn't exist outside unless there's an associated Sanyo or Fisher variant of that outside of Japan.

Thanks for the link, it is indeed a Japanese import. The CD door needs some work and it needs all new belts. I've ordered an assorted belt kit and we'll see how I fair when I attempt to sort it on Friday.

Arrived this morning and it's got an excellent quality of sound in my opinion. Opened it up and it's looks a pain to change the belts. Got scared and closed it back up for another day. Maybe I'll have a drink and get brave.

I have some extra info. I was browsing ebay and found the European model!

SANYO MCD40.

Unfortunately though, I cannot find the service manual.

I own the black European version M-CD40 , certainly one of the best sounding little boomboxes out there , the white version is lovely !
Here are some info from a Japenese book that I have :

The google translation leaves much to be desired but the basic info is there :

I have serviced mine but I wouldn't mind to have a service manual , if only the price was (much) better.

I may come back to you with questions haha

I have bought the M-CD40 and just waiting for it to arrive. I couldn't get the auto reverse working on my white one and I believe it was due to a piece of plastic I found inside that I couldn't find a place for. Not having the service manual made it hard. Hoping the black one arrives and sheds some light on that issue.

Anytime .

What's better than a white MR V2CD ?
A white MR V2CD + black M-CD40 , hard not to fall in love with that model it looks and sounds great .
Exactly!

I love my white one, it's just a shame the black one is missing the chrome piece on the right speaker.

Mine is missing the same piece on the same side !
These are easy to brake, they are attached with some glue and two thin pegs .

That would be better than the part missing completely.
Probably it'll be hard to make an exact identical copy as the original is plated plastic with brushed aluminum effect lines and has its own speaker mess with curbed edges!

Sacrilege I know but I was just going to make 2 black solid pieces and replace the aluminium one. I'd never be able to make an exact copy so may as well have 2 that match.
