Would it be an issue to run 100VAC Japan device off US outlet for a long period of time?
On the average we have 125(!) VAC here in Florida which is 1.25 times over the original transformer input.

Some people do it yes, but it would be safer to use a step-down converter.

^ what he said.

I run my 100v Victor M70 on the standard 110-120v plug here in the USA. Not saying its right, but no problems so far.

Run all my Japanese 100V boomers on a 110V step-down converter from AC 220V - no problems for more than a year.
You couldn't find a converter that steps down from 220 to 100?

The standard ones sold in Russia are 220-110 autotransformers. I used the similar one to go up to 220 locally :-)

I rarely have any issues but don't play them very long, just enough for testing. One time, however a very nice Perdisco was being tested and the moment the music search feature was activated, it toasted that circuit. So its not always safe.

good to know super....I've had no issue yet but I bet some are better than others at handling the extra juice...

Reli, of course I could. :)
I was even thinking about buying one, shall we say, authentic :) 100V in Japan along with my boomers but that would be a bit expensive as compared to buying it locally.
Then I decided to stay with my 100 Watt 110V step-down transformer which cost me about 20$. So far so good, no complains yet from my boxes. Touching wood. :-)

I don't quite understand why the US 120 VAC topic was hijacked with the 220(!!!) VAC transformers discussion :-)
I've got the best solution by replacing transformer with the same exact size and voltage one. RX-7200 shown, I keep the original transformer shell so everything looks OEM.

Nop not in my case - it's direct replacement 120VAC transformer, any add-on converters are waste of energy, ugly and not professional...
I asked for advise and found the best solution myself while the tread went into 220VAC transformer discussion

True but buying a new transformer requires you to find one with the right specs. Kind of hard to do for the novice, searching through lots of catalogs and reference sheets. And that isn't something I have much patience for, lol.

With my 220V European radios, I have one step-up converter that I can plug several radios into at the same time, because it's rated for 500 watts.
