RE RISING A 20/20 (lots of pics)

good morning guys I wanted to share my latest restoration... I recived a phone call about a month ago from one of the supers from a building that I service. he said they were cleaning out an apartment that was vacated and that he found a boombox.. so after work i drove straight over to see what he had well it turned out to be a rising

this radio looked like it went to hell and back all of the knobs switches had cooking greese all over it and were seriously pitted but the radio actually powered up.. casing wise the speaker grills were all rusty and the foot on the right side was broken.. the back was complety discolored and real dirty..

so i cleaned one of the caps and it really looked good so i decided to tear it all apart. after about 4 hours of cleaning and degreasing i had it all apart and ready for paint.. i put out a feeler for some parts but was unsuccessful.. thats where hemi guy told me when i come to florida he has some parts for me!!!

i as able to get all the top knobs,cassete keys and some extra parts, so a special thanks to him so after about 20 hrs into this box i have a fully restored 20/20 here are the pics of this restoration... enjoy

Super-fresh restoration job, Jimmy! I probably would have left it as a parts box, but you were able to bring it back to life.

Did you upgrade the dial lamps to LEDs while you were in there?

Top work man!

It's so strange to think that just a few years ago the only place you would have seen a radio like this would be at a job site while the painting crew worked!

Now they are being restored into functional art!
