Since the M70 is the only device I have that requires real D sized batteries, I really don't want to invest in D size rechargeables with also needing a separate charger.
I found these D size spacers that take 3 AA batteries (rechargeable and/or alkaline). I currently have the D size spacer that only accepts one AA, and that would not be enough to power the M70, so I decided I am going to "try" the 3 AA spacers in the M70.
Since most of my requirements/devices accept AA batteries, and I have plenty of the rechargeable AA's, I felt this would be the most cost efficient method for me.
Since my battery usage time will be minimal with the M70, I felt this would be worth a try, and then not have the stress/worry of possible battery leakage with the Duracell's.
I should be receiving these spacers soon, so I will update with my results/opinions.

Is your MAHA charger the PowerEx MH-C808M?

Same charger and batteries I've used for years, as was recommended back then on this site. 8 cells at a time. AA, AAA, C and D. I love it.

Bought two chargers becuase aside from my radios I also have 3 girls. So I stocked up on every size for all the toys. Only time I buy alkaline anymore is if I'm out an about needing some, or for devices I plan to throw away later, or think will get lost.

I'm the same way. The only time I use Alkaline is for my smoke detectors and wall clocks and maybe a flashlight. Otherwise, it's rechargeable

Well, I received the 3 AA's to D sized spacers and charged the 30 batteries (rated at 2400mah each), and the M70 wouldn't even turn on. I tried several times to make sure everything was inserted correctly, and still no power.
So, I guess for now I will keep an eye on the Duracells that work in there, and when they die, I will re evaluate If I truly need to invest in the Tenergy system.
Spacers and batteries returned.
Thanks to all for your advise/suggestions.

It'll work with real D rechargeables. I wouldn't trust the D packs.

They're a big ticket initially. But worth it after only a few uses.
