Yesterday a friend called me, to lent one of my boomboxes.
He works in a small film company and want to produce a musicvideo with rap star "Sido".

They want my HELIX for the shot:

How much should i take as guarantee for it?
Are 200 ok?
Afraid they will not pay for lenting, but i want to prevend a defizit if it get lost or damaged.

What do you think? :hmmm:

I asked him about the scene.
It should only stand in the background, a girl "listening" to it.
And he sings in front of it.
Think thats ok. :-)

btw: just loaded it with some "fakie-tapes" from OSS :-D

Hey if your box is gonna be on film better doll it up  speaker grills on this model are easy fix by popping them off and pounding out dents ;-)

Depending on how well you know this friend is and if you really feel he will look out for it's safety is one thing that might determine a safety deposit. Are you going to be there to sit by the pretty girl too? ;-)

Or you just make a such deal: If something bad happens to the box, then they must give you a girl for compensation :-P

It will cost you $400 plus postage of about $300 for a replace ment box and $300 for the trouble so yea $1000 or as theres nothing in it for say see ya later
and tell them yes you can by your own so of you go and buy it
this is our life our passion
it like if someone ask to ride your bike and then your segway next they will ask to ride yor miss
they got to be kidding no hire fee f..k them and the horse they rode in on
if they dont already have there own boombox then they dont have our passion and will never look after it

You also need to consider that nobody cares about that box as much as you do so they likely won't be handling it in a protective manner. I would think it's very likely to be handled roughly at least some of the time, that's just my experience with those that don't have an interest in this hobby and view these as old, outdated, junky and mostly useless old toys.

Yep we are on the same page.
You know they will just bang it around on the floor, table, shelf or wherever else they place it and no doubt it will be placed in an unstable spot in the video. I wouldn't do it unless it was a box I didn't care much for and they fronted me it's full value in cash ahead of time.

Roman, aside from my previous joke, if that people are sincere in their intentions then you do not have to worry, simply set the condition to be present during the shooting and that you personally take care over the management of boombox and that's it, you do not need any insurance.
If they reject your simple terms, it is all clear, they have hidden intentions and then you can forget about your participation in this event. ;-)

:agree: That's the only thing that would make me any where near comfortable.

Ok, everything is well.
The box came back without damage.

Hoping to get some adds soon (autograph, pics,....)

OSS "fakies" are looking really cool at it.
So no fear to loose one of my real R2Rs
