Plus boomboxes, what other audio electronics are you into?

Car audio?
Home Audio?
Internet streaming audio?
PC/Mac-based or server audio?
Portable audio other than boomboxes?
Built some kind of audio gear from scratch?

I am pretty much into all of the above to some degree except I do not have a multimedia server set-up. (Can't decide whether to stay with a PC or jump into a Mac.) Just curious if interest extends into other gear types as well. So what do you do when you aren't messing with a boombox?

When I am not listening to or customizing one of my boomboxes I can be found spending time with my other hobbies. I love cars so you gotta have music in your ride. I have a 2006 Dodge Charger, 2002 Dodge Viper, 2008 Cadillac Escalade, and 1995 Jeep Cherokee and all have custom sound systems (still working on the Cherokee). I am also a huge movie buff so my home theater room has THX certified components with Bowers and Wilkens mids and tweets with Velodyne subs. I chose the Mitsubishi 82" DLP 3D for movie viewing. For portable audio I use the Creative Zen X-Fi 2 touch for audiophile quality sound. I also have an Ipod touch because of the millions of available aps but it has excellent sound as well. My preferred headphones are the Sennheiser HD800's which make everything sound good. I just got into pc gaming so I plan on upgrading the pc for improved sound, but I know nothing about pc's so I have no idea which direction to go with that. Any recommendations??.... :-D

Not really audio equipment but they have speakers and they output a lot of noise!

Muto I see your other hobby doesn't take up much space.
I wish I had the space for some old video games.

I started on that hobby, but it was quite a pain when I switched apartments :-)
When I had to move between states, that was the end of that hobby

My father had a saying: If it's got tits or wheels it's gunna give you trouble.

Radio Airchecks.

I grew up listening to radio, from Radio Luxembourg on the SW, to local AM Top 40, to Classic Rock FM, I have a thing for Radio Airchecks, a recording of the jockey from on-air, or from studio tapes, usually 45 mins long, 1 side of a C90. To me they are an aural document of the times. With the advent of downloads, internet streaming and CD's, I can listen to any radio station in the world in my car or at home. I love the adverts, I love the jocks and I love the music (mostly).

I look forward to the introduction of Sat radio here in Australia, hopefully like the US system.

If you are into Radio Airchecks, there's an very active Facebook group, with radio downloads available from all over the world.

I collect all sorts of pre-recorded (and recordable) media formats - MD, DAT, dcc, 8-tracks, records, LD, Beta, reel-to-reel, Philips CD-i - and the machines that use them.

Also have lots of vintage transistor radios and a bunch of SW/multiband sets, too. Got some table radios, but mostly just those made in/for Japan.

Oh... almost forgot. A load of portable CD players.

Home audio, always have been - I've got a nice setup that I'm pretty happy with, but I need a new cassette deck at some point :-/

Radio broadcast equipment:- transmitters, audio processing etc.. again, I have my own setup :grim:  :ninja:

And not exactly 'audio' electronics but I like my CB radios too I have a collection (albeit nowhere near as large these days) of classic radios. :-)

I also collect home audio equipment. But that stuff is huge and try to only keep what I am currently, plus a few spares or things I want to get fixed. Cut back on lots of equipment about 10 years ago.

Also I am an avid video/computer game player. Currently only have eight systems hooked up in the living to 2 TVs. I also assemble my own PCs for gaming and try to keep two running at all times to play games with family and friends. Currently playing Left 4 Dead 2, Red Dead Redemption, Bioshock 2, Trails HD and Gratuitous Space Battles.

I also go camping a lot. I like to visit very old amusement parks. I have also started kayaking with some friends who have a spare for me to use. My favorite TV channel is TCM.

Audio steaming fro the net, video steaming (music clips)... I have got an OS that allows to do, well... let us say good things! And then I record onto MD.

Thus, with that and my bboxes, I also have a nac for MDs... I have quite a few (mainly Sharp MDs) and have also been able to convent 5 Bboxes into MD players (and one into an Mp3 payer) without adulterating them much.

:-D

I've gone from zero to seven Nakamichi tape decks in two years! And I've got about 300 or so sealed vintage audio tapes.
