Here are my pics, this model # 3-5286A was released in 1981 you can see the date on this one,
Also no molded writing in the square blank spots and where the power cord goes on the side has black panal as well does the back palal with speaker hook ups! Last three photos are one I found on line to compare it to!

I have never seen or heard of a sample boombox before.
This is a rare unit, I assume intended for testing.
It would be nice to do some maintenance and restoration.
It is very important to keep that label on the back.
If you have a problem with this you can ask questions and we will try to help you.

It would appear that Funai (Symphonic) manufactured this as a prototype and shopped it around to find companies interested in adding this to their lineup and once agreed, would then customize the case to the companies specification. It does seem rare. However, often with boomboxes, rare does not always translate to valuable. It would be interesting to display in some museum. But in the grand scheme of things, it's basically a GE 3-5286A with blank embossing, and since embossing on these GE's is usually lettering that stands proud, it's also possible to sand down the letting and polish the rear case (like this one is perfectly smooth and doesn't have the camera case finish), so it's actually possible to recreate this, although that's not what I'm saying has happened here. If I was in the market for a 3-5286A, I would buy it, but I wouldn't pay significantly more for this over a standard 3-5286A in the same cosmetic condition. But I'm just guessing. Collecting is a finicky thing... find the right buyer at the right time and who knows.

I can't find anything on something like this anywhere, maybe others did not survive,
I don't know but any helpful input would be great.
