Try one area to use a brush and remove debris. If it is sticky rubber parts then use windex, butyl cellosolve or isopropyl alcohol to clean it. Now you have new belts and no need to use alcohol to clean it. Rubber wheels made during that time might get dry with alcohol use, so stay away from using alcohol on the rubber tires.
Nice thanks. It’s nice to know what to use. This pioneer was real dirty and I used 100% alcohol to clean the top and ended up cleaning the paint off with the dirt now it has a silver dollar size black spot. This leads me to my next question. Does anybody know what colour paint or spray paint to use on this radio for the grey colour? Thanks
Just a FYI for anybody having cassette problems on one of these pioneers. After replacing belts it was working good then I was messing around with recording and music search and suddenly it wouldn’t play anymore. After taking apart to investigate I noticed the belt near the “logic control mechanism “ (I think this is what it’s called) wasn’t turning. I turned it manually and presto it plays again. I attached a pic. Hope you can see the part I have light on.
