I had my eye on this on boston craigslist for a few days. I've said before that I'm more into the 1-pieces than the 3-pieces, but I always liked this Pioneer. I've been hankerin' for an acquisition and this one was just the right price. The seller replied to my email this morning, and it's a good thing - That's all that motivated me to keep my head from hitting my desk on a rainy Friday. |-)

It was a long journey west (by MA standards during rush hour), but well worth the drive.
It's in great shape, and it's pretty clean. Even the deck works. You'll see in the pic that the woofers need to be re-foamed, and I have no choice but to give it a "superlew detail." The seller had it hooked up to a couple of little bookshelf speakers and it sounded great. So I can't wait to hear it with the freshly-foamed woofers.

I took this pic with my phone about 40 seconds after I walked into the house.:

Thanks Jerry. I figured you saw this one. He told me that he sold a TRC 931 a couple weeks ago, too. :hmmm:

Pioneer was "The art of Entertainment", till the logo changed .

You wouldn't be wrong with any Pioneer

love this one and i have lots of parts to if you need some :-)
And thank you, nz boom. I don't think I'll need any parts, though. It's in great shape, minus the woofers, which is no big deal. According to the seller, this origianlly belonged to his father. I think he took really good care of it. I assured him that it was going to a good home. :-)

Here are some better pics to give everyone an idea of the condition. I detailed the main unit, but I didn't do the speakers yet. The foam is on it's way and I think I'm going to spray the woofers to freshen them up. Does anyone know if they were originally a pure white or more of a cream color?

It depended on where the unit came from as far as speaker color. Most of the Asia units had white cones...others were more of an off white or very light cream color.

Congrats on the score. Nice catch! :-D

The seller emailed me yesterday. He's also mailing me the service manual. :-D
"And the hits just keep on coming."
I'll post in "Restorations and Customizations" when I do the speakers in the next week or so.

Now that I'm working on the speakers, I notice that the adhesive on the dust caps is almost a pure white. The cones are nicotine yellow. After looking at colors available on the shelf, I think I'm gonna go the "pure white" route.

Nice Pictures, A lovely boombox. is it a 3-piecer or does the middle section splits into seperate units, like the Sony FH's?
