Some of you might remember a couple years back I was all over this forum because of a film that I was working on, "Ping Pong Summer." It took place in 1985 and was about a kid obsessed with ping pong and hip hop, and so we needed some real authentic, 1985-or-before boxes. But being a noob I turned to you guys to buy, identify, and just generally school me on all things boombox.

Well I'm now proud to announce that the movie is about to come out, on June 6th*! And it features plenty of boxes: The GF-777, the RX-5150, the CSC-165, and many others! Check out the trailer to see which ones you can spot:

Thank a million to everybody on boomboxery who helped me out! Here's the poster, featuring the grand ol' 777:

* June 6th are the premiere dates for: New York, LA, Seattle, Minneapolis, Boston, Nashville, Toronto, Dallas, Denver, Wilmington DE, and five Maryland locations: Baltimore, Silver Spring, Ocean City, Rehoboth Beach, and Bethany Beach —— but if the movie does well, it'll open in even more places!

Kick arse! Been looking forward to this for ages.

Did you get the "1985 - Wish You Were Here" line from one of my old photos?

Can't wait to see this movie, been hearing a lot of positives about if from many of the online 80s-interest groups I frequent!

Rock On.

Looks like a well made decent budget movie based in the the tech savvy decade that was the 80's, can't wait to see it.

Watched it on Apple TV tonight.
It was ok...
But nothing to write home about.
There were a total of I believe 3 or 4 different boomboxes that appear in the movie.
The main character has a three piece box ,in which
throughout the movie the speakers were installed upside down.
There were some cool parts in the movie but for the most part
Very forgettable and weak.
The 80's props were pretty cool especially the arcade in which they hung out
To play ping pong.
I would suggest to anyone wanting to see this movie to rent it vs going to the theater.
Not worth the price of admission. Just my opinion.

I have to say that I agree with the above. I downloaded from U1 and Heather & I watched. It's inoffensive enough but has all the depth of a teaspoon. :-/ Sorry if that offends, but there it is.
