So busy these days with the holidays and permitting at work. Finally got a chance to do final spot putty on the top/sides of the box. Straighten, sanded and painted the grills. Tweeter trims get matte black paint now and ill mask off and spray chrome on the faces later. Body is scuffed and ready.
This is a cruddy spot to try and fix, and with what I have here it's really all I can do. The area around the tweeter is still a little "crater-ed" up than I was hoping for but the primer makes it look icky. Trying to file in that small groove is a pain in the butt and I didn't even know I owned files this small HA!
You can see that I am not painting the entire box, only the areas that needed the body work. There are some dings and scratches on other parts that I didn't work on because its character and history without being ugly.
Either way, it is ending up to be in better condition than it was. This M90 will always be a "2 footer", so the close up pic of the tweeter area hopefully will fade away as part of the character of the box after the tweeter ring and speaker grill is installed.
The last few pics showing it with some paint is only 1st coat. I will probably have 3 light coats total to get the paint and metallic to lay out properly.
That looks like a very good job to me! Considering what it was like in the earlier pics, that's little shy of a miraculous transformation. Well done, please allow yourself to feel proud of the way this is turning out.
I managed to get all the coats done and fit some pieces back in place. I decided not to paint the chrome onto the tweeter rings with spray paint. I think this would be best with some chrome vinyl.
the black tweeters really don't bother me as much as they should , i think they make the tweeters stand out more because you normally don't see the tweeters stand out that much as they are kinda dark and recessed ,and the m90 has bigger than average tweeters so they should stand out more,. besides that you did an awesome job on a ****ed up box , that speaks for itself. rock on!.
If you paint the Bezels Tremclad Aluminum, it'll hareden good & look like polished aluminum if you prep the plastic properly. I bet Just Cruisin' could give ya some tips to make it bling.....
