Dude! I think it looks awesome! I can tell how the tuner dial would be less bright in-person...the glare on video might make it look like overkill to some...but I think its fn fantastic! Nice work, broham!

Hey guys I had to re-route the blue toggle lights to radio play only,...
Edit changed things up again

Hey guys I had to tone it down a bit & changed up some LED action and settled on different setup for no battery drain
sissues.
now rewiring with different battery saving LEDs for dial, as this box wasnt able to handle previous setup on batteries well lol.
Also tape button led now alternates intensity.
Once box done will post results, hopefully last time as I delayed next box.

Hi ok well I had to go for practicality, functionality and performance so I didn't want any power issues with the box so I toned it down a bit visually,
but electrically-wise it is much much better.

1-Only Led blue glow over the dial pointer and it moves with the dial.
2-Blue Leds slightly dimmer more natural looking.
3-Cassette area lowered intensity overall and also it varies in intensity and does changes same pace with the blue toggles for a more uniform change.

This is last change although I may smooth-en out the transitions on the cassette area.
All working well now and more natural Mod than before I think was overboard.
My goal was to highlight natural features of the model without changing it too much.
Also the Leds are now turned on and off with the meter switch! ha that was a huge pain..

Looks pretty cool although it would look more professional if the LEDs could backlight all the function switches evenly...and not just a few like you've done.

The decision for sequentially moving LEDs as opposed to all light at same time was for power savings as well as effect.
Same approach applies for the intensity changing piano key Leds.
Although all controls actually do light up but doesn't show up in pic .
You have to watch video. :)

Opened last time to smothen white piano key transitions with capacitor.
This unit I once considered my dullest to look at because of the big grey metal dial area,
Is now my most impressive to look at :)
I gave it all the love I could, & now its ready t;o be taken over by a new owner!
This "one-of-a-kind" will not be replicated,
as it took too much trouble and set me back from my units I really want to do.
So somebody's lucky day as it will go on ebay prob tomorrow.

To me it was impressive on female voice.
Panasonic was always made great sounding boxes.
If U see in my sig I have the Pansonic National 7000,
I think its one of the best I ever herd.

Panasonics were never meant to be pimped out like this. They already just have their own class and style.
Well done regardless :w00t:

I used to like the LED lights and now I started to hate it when people overkill it on boomboxes.

Actually the glow must be uniform. So far I've seen only a few upgrades with LED that looks decent and the rest are good as Christmas ornaments on the tree. :w00t: :w00t:

The light must be evenly distributed across the dial or VU meters, if not it will look ugly.

Diffusers are needed but LED lights are so intense even that would fail in many cases.

Well, for me, if everyone went for the same MARANTZ backlight effect & no one was brave enough to do something different, it would be a very boring hobby indeed. Also, some tuner dials CANNOT be backlit, like my M90 s0 I went for a trippy holographic look instead of the overdone backlit type of LED lights. IT LOOKS AMAZING in person!!! I think you did a great job doing something unique. It's easy to shoot down someone else's idea. It takes talent, determination & imagination to go against the grain & do something NEW!!! Most people on here said my M70 went too far but it sold for 950 clams + shipping so what do they know anyway? I've had insane offers for my M90, already & the tuner LEDs are similar to your old setup on the Panny so again, what do they know? Lots of guys said I couldn't use 2.5 OHM woofers on my SHARP 777, even tho they have the same amp IC's as the C-100 which runs in a push-pull setup & low impedance drivers. It's been working for 6 months now & 0 issues.

Cheers,
Cpl
