I cry the wail of a 1,000 jumbys when I see this!! So sad!
BTW-You probably don't know what the hell I'm talking about but it's in reference to an old statue that survived a fish-house fire-was inside the stove that burnt down the fish house but survived to be in absolutely perfect shape!! :-O :-O
Have a good one-GB. :-P

That's such a terrible waste. As much as I kind of dislike 'eggs', it's such a shame to see so many possibly working ones just been dumped like this. I mean, these boxes have YEARS left in them!!

What I don't understand either with Europe being more enviromentally concsious than most regions of the world is why they don't have a strong reseller base that could purchase the boomers and ship them for resale around the world where you normally could not get a radio. There is certainly a way to extend the life of these poor beasts. :-/

Hmmmmm... :hmmm:
I've been thinking about what Roman said about most of these mostly coming from schools that no longer use them or upgraded. Thats probably the same way those Chinese sellers aquire so many 777's and other barley used models!
It now makes sense! You figure that they would need a big loud box for the size of classes, based on the large population of China, lots of students, lots of classes, lots of boxes in these schools.
I think they got it right by reselling them to us  , and not destroying them

Yes/No? :hmmm: ;-)

:agree: MZ they should be reselling them, it's a win win for everybody and the environment.

Glad you saved a few Roman but it's sad to see the boombox death march continue. :grim:

Also good news from the cobra!
Radio and CD fully working, tapes needs belts.
And a big clean up :sin:

But too sad, all boxes are remote missing... :annoyed:

I guess these units got no value for most people even if some of them work.
I mean if you pay a man to test them and ship them over to a poor country it may be cheaper to buy new cheap chinese radios.

A friend of mine works for a charity organisation that collects old computers (pc´s and notebooks) from large companys. They ship them to Africa where they are used in schools. This is a good programm but in this case the computers are usually not older than 3 - 5 years and they are working.
