Hey Compadre Miles!
Thanks for the great info and links!
Question: What would be the difference(s) between "Primary Charger" and "Reboot Charger" ?
The Primary Charger is the one used to charge batteries to their fullest without overcharging; it determines how much charge the battery needs then tops it up. The Reboot Charger is used to "reboot" a battery by momentarily charging a depleted battery (~ 1 min) that the Primary Charger thinks is dead or won't charge. It can also be used for charging but may overcharge due to the fact it is timer based.

Go!

Rechargables are definitely the way to go. For the price 2 good alkalines, you can usually get a decent rechargeable that will last for a few hundred charges & the landfills get a break from all the toxic crap. I only have 'AA' & 'AAA' rechargables but will definitely try to hook myself up with some 'D's & a charger, come tax return time.....

Cool thread.

Most home improvement centers will take like Lowes or Home Depot. They will bitch about 50 but they should take them.

I used a set of 10 rechargeable Ds for almost 5 years. Not sure how many uses i got, but they have finally given up. But i recharged them 2-3-4 times a week. I know i got my money out of them.

Great thread Chris, I do something similar.
I have certain sections rows of D's.
I usually have 20-30 that go back in and out if certain boomboxes.
I keep the best ones separate and the weak ones on the left or somewhat seperate.
Just don't put a penny on a 6volt lantern battery, it gets dangerously hot !!
Crazy me I did that a couple times when I worked I'm the grocery store ad a teenager!!(lol)
