From the photos, it looks like the FH-215R is mostly plastic whereas I know that the FH-7 has metal chassis with wood speakers.

the fh215r is still super well constructed.
for me the short comings are the digital interface for the eq. it is really cool to look at but prone to failure and also if it dies its really hard to figure out what you are doing.
the finish on the fh7 mk3 i have is really quite nice.
the others are kind of shinier and prone to scritching.
