On the road again: Moving to Naples Italy

My wife and I are now down in Anaheim California near Disneyland. We have now dropped off our car for shipment. We board a flight tomorrow night.

Quick update, Made it to Brussels, about to board for a short hop to Naples. Check on the TRC-920 in Chicago and it was doing good. Will be rocking that box soon.

So, the 920 made it!

As I expected, they did open up this bag, one speaker grill got pushed in. So I will need to pop that back out. Other than that, powers up, works fine. I am going to see if I can make some sort of RIB to hold the bag open and from being able to be smashed for future flights. It's a learning curve. TIME TO ROCK NAPLES!

Nice to see you got there safe and sound. Your radio doesn't look to bad either. Its a long journey to fly from the western hemisphere to the eastern. I've done it twice,once as a civilian and once in the Navy. Both times I was a much younger man. When you get to around 50 years of age I'm sure its a bit tougher. My hats off to you brother. Hope your wife is doing well too.Enjoy you new surroundings, Italy is a beautiful country. Soon you'll feel the stress of living in the U.S. melt away. Have some wine and crank the metal!!!!Ciao

WTF did they just got careless and rested their freakin' paws on the grille!?!?!?!?

You ever look out the window of the airplane to see the guy chucking your luggage? What actually happened in the dickhead that opened and inspected the bag that had the radio in it, they pulled the radio out, then put it back in face down, all the foam was farked up. Pretty much no one gives a fark about their job. They do a shitting job just to get through the day. I am looking for a hard shell flight case right now.

The others are being shipping in a shipping container and not through an airline.

Thanks Brother. We have done tons of paperwork, classes everyday. I got my Italian drivers license. Now I hold a drivers license in Japan, The United States and Italy. Tomorrow we start looking for a house.

So it looks like you've been there 3 weeks or so, how's it going now?

Things are good. It's been very busy. We are living in temporary housing, but have found a house to rent. A few things need to be worked out before we can move in. We have gotten our drivers licenses, bought a car and my wife has started her new job. Our first shipment of household items has arrived. That's our kitchen and the rest of our clothes. But it's still in storage till we get moved into our house. Hopefully that will be in a few weeks.

Our Chevy Malibu, my motorcycle, my boomboxes and the whole rest of the house is still floating around in the Atlantic somewhere. Last we checked it was scheduled for April 28th, but we have heard that's a rough estimate depending on weather and other factors. Could be sooner, could be later.

So that's the update for now.

Here's the thing, though: I know from my own travelling experiences that each new location can be magical and full of excitement & expectation when experiencing a vast array of sounds, smells, cultural differences and..................well, the list is endless so, if you'll forgive me, Id like to hear of how it actually felt to be in such a historic European city for the first time - pretty please.
