Yeh, when they put a CD player in a boomer, they often removed any aux/phono-in.
Probably a combination of:
- Save money wherever possible (as was the norm at the 'decline & fall' time) to help pay for the CD transport.
- Caught up in the 'CD is the ultimate, vinyl is dead, you'll never need anything else ever'. The word 'futureproof' didn't exist back then
Panasonic did this with the RX-DT series (& the Cobra-tops too, I think) - a real shame. All my Hitachi 3Ds with a CD have no aux in, apart from the very earlist one (CX-W800).
