This is one reason why it's so hard to tell a newbie what a particular box is "worth." On any given day, a box is worth what the person who wants it most is willing to pay for it. On another day, it may be "worth" more or less, depending on who's bidding. No one should ever feel bad for paying "too much"... becuase there really isn't any "too much." If you want it, you pay what it takes to get it. Period. And then feel proud and lucky that you own something that means the world to you.

So, congratulations on snagging one of your grails! I hope it brings you years and years of pleasure.

Very nice! Congratulations, she's a beauty, good to see it go to someone from here, and to someone who will appreciate it.

Now who's going to snap up the 777 on there?

In this condition, it is really an epic win

Maybe one day I will have a Conion too :angelic:

Make a tutorial for the belts when you open it up...I would be interested in that push-in deck :hmmm:

As someone already posted, the belt either broke or slipped off while the deck's flywheel-driven engage mechanism was in operation; that is what puts the most strain on the belt in those 'soft touch' decks. All you have to do is turn the flywheel (that's the huge metal wheel :-D ) manually counter-clockwise if you're accessing the tape drive from the front, clockwise if you're doing it from the back; until you hear a big clunk and simultaneously see the heads and pinch roller drop. Sometimes you can unjam this type of deck by simply reaching into the cassette well and giving the capstan a good counter-clockwise twist, again; it'll eventually 'clunk' back into proper position.
You want to do this, because the motor will run constantly, eat up quite a bit of battery power; and may even prematurely kill the motor if you don't. Best of luck!!!

Great looking box. Well done.

One has been up on UK Ebay in the last two days. Started out at £500 Bin, and now has gone to £750Bin ??? ($1200).

I offered £300 but was turned down.

It was that or a Sharp VZ 2500....

:-O
