Alright, I give in. For all of you Australian members who might have been wondering who bought it...............
Ever since I started collecting there has been possibly 3 boxes that I would be prepared to break the budget for and the chance of coming across one in nice condition in .au is pretty slim.
I know there are several members who do frown upon paying big $'s for boxes but this is one that is incredibly rare in this country and especially in this condition so I went for it.
Rest assured it has come to a good home and will be well looked after for years to come...........
Just got to get an M90 now

She's a beauty!!!!!!!

It still has the original door cling and cassette storage tray. There's one small nick on the top and a small scratch as well but thats about it. I haven't even cleaned it yet so it should look amazing when i do. It was one of the best packaged boxes I've ever received and the ebay seller was outstanding. I spoke to him on the phone and he asked me how I wanted it packed and shipped which was a refreshing change.
It does have some technical issues which I'll need to address (these were disclosed in the listing). It needs rebelted which isn't a real big surprise but the strange thing is that the power seems to be on at all times. I think this is connected to the fact that the tape player is constantly on, therefore the door doesn't open freely. Does anyone have any ideas how to repair this?
I'll make a proper post in the tech section when i get round to doing the repairs. I'm just enjoying looking at it for now and booming my ipod through it.
I knew these were big but I couldn't quite believe it when it arrived and MAN it is LOUD as hell...................
Hope you enjoy the pics :surf:

Alfie... congrats on getting that cool Conion

and as far as worrying about paying big coin goes, dont let it
stress ya :-D
sometimes that is what it takes to get the boombox we really
desire, especially when it is offered to many other potential buyers.

dont let those few who swear that they will never pay anymore than
$50 for any radio stop you from sharing your latest scores, IMHO they
are the ones being unrealstic :dunce:

and besides it will always even out.... i paid out my A$$ for my mint M90
but picked up my Conion for $70 :-D

Congrats again man, enjoy it !!

Alfie that is an awesome looking Conion :-D Congrats on a great purchase of one of the holy grail bbx's   :breakdance: :w00t: And yes the tape deck belt broke while going so it never finished the cycle and the sleep mode still is on. Once you can finish the cycle manually or by replacing belts it should be fine :-D

like othes have said, forget about the whining regarding paying high prices. If it doesn't bother you to pay the $$'s then don't let the "critics" bother you. Truth be told, you need to pay what you paid to get it right? Over the years, I've paid some obscene sums of money for some of my grails, especially the first of many that I've acquired. I think most of the whining is from folks that are envious they couldn't afford what you got and wish they were cheaper so they could get it. But if there's (1) C100 out there for 10 buyers -- then the only one that's gonna own it is the one willing to fork over the cash. Congrats.

Congrats Alfie she's a beauty!! I got lucky with mine because the owner didn't know what he had. In total I've spent $420 on mine and it fully works!! I had the same issue with the power button always on. I opened it and turned a knob or two in the tape mechanism and it stopped staying on. Good luck with it and enjoy you've got a classic that's on everybodys list even if they already have one!!

Hey hey- don't feel bad! I once bought a grail from Japan, for way too much money- then was so excited I paid the $150 at the time for exress EMS shipping because I could not wait to get it. When I got it- I hated it.... and sold it at a loss just to get it out of my sight..... sigh..... :'-( I don't even remember the model- something like a Sony ZX1- because it had a minidisc and am stereo.... BUT could not be programmed to work on USA radio bands. :dunce:

Ohhh verry nice, Alfie! GREAT to see her go to a good home! Congratulations!!

I was bidding in the final seconds and my bid of $720 didn't even get accepted, so there was some FIERCE bidding!

Beautiful C100, hope you can get her all sorted out. This is easily one radio I would never, ever let go of.

Rock On.
