glue -- did you fix the back vibration -
by using the insulation ?
or how ?
thanks

The top seam at the back where the front joins the back of the case was the problem. It's a loooong thing strip of plastic with no nearby anchors or screws. The bass made this vibrate and flap away like nobodies business.

I stopped it by running a strip of double sided tape along the top from handle post to handle post on the inside of the seam that joins but only sparingly took the top layer of the double sided tape off. So it only stuck slightly, but the main thing is the cushioning of the double sided tape stopped any plasting vibrating on plastic.

It's easy to pop the front off still, but the seal is much more solid.

I know it's hackey, but that's how I roll!

I bet I don't look anywhere near as righteous as those dudes when I'm lugging my GF-9000 about.

Old school is the only school.

Thanks for sharing the pic Blah, certainly one I've never seen before!

What does it sound like?? Like Sharp gf-777? Better? Worse?

The sound is a point of contention, like many of the Sharp one-piecers, amongst the brotherhood.

She's not a thumping bass monster, but is very loud and clear, and not got anywhere near the bass of the 777, but that can be a good thing when considering the overall sound. The sound aspect I loved about the 9000 (in much the same manner as my 9494) is the 'sound-footprint' it creates. This thing projects sound of it for miles! The sound has been designed, I imagine, to carry as far as possible, and she does this magnificently, and has a real presence in her sound up close. The 9000 also has the longest life on batteries by a large margin on any of my bigger/full size boxes, including the M70.

I found the back of the case to be a weakpoint in the sound design as mine vibrated and rattled like nobodies business. Once I fixed that up she's been sounding much, much better and also added some more dimension to the lower end. I know Rimmer replaced his GF-9000 stock speakers with M90 ones and has been very impressed with the performance increase.

My GF-9000 is a bit of a beater unfortunately, red's faded of the VU's and the cosmetic condition of the case is probably the worst of my whole collection, cracked tuner window, scratched and dinged here and there and buttons have a fair bit of the corrosion on chrome. I still love her dearly though, and plan on getting another one next year in better condition. They look extra-super special all minty fresh.

She's definitely worth being in anyone's collection, massive design and great performance.

Like the man says :-) This one i have sounds much better than my last examples and they were also in good cond putting m90 speakers in only adds to the paformance

Memory lane.
I remember saving up to buy a pair of those glasses when I was that age.
Afrikka Bambatta's "Planet Rock" had just hit and being a cyborg B-boy was up.

Cheers OSS :afro:
