Predictable, lol

But, Ebay is the best place to sell. 10 times as many collecotors will see it, and you'll get more money than you ever will on here.

Well guys, im sorry if i upset everyone. That was not the goal. I thought that offering something for sale here in a place where you are all passionate about the same thing made sense. i still think that making all of you aware of it being for sale is a good idea, in case any wanted it.

if i could have gone straight to the for sale section i would have, posted it there, and stayed out of everyone's way.

I just know very little about these things, and it appears that i stumbled across a rare unit and i though the true hardcore collectors would want first crack at it.

With that said, here is my listing.

hopefully it will go to a good home.

Thanks for all your helpful information everyone.

youre right, i was posting a bunch to hopefully unlock the for sale section, but you know what? i decided that plugging up your boards with useless posts was a waste of space so i just listed it on ebay.

i sort of understand not wanting random people posting a bunch of trash on your boards, but in all honesty if i had got a decent offer i probally would have taken it without thinking twice.

$20 is a decent offer if you don't know the value of something.

Offer it to someone for $20 and you'll have all the takers in the world.

We see this exact behaviour in the BMW 2002 boards all the time, people run across/ find/ get gifted a little old BMW and suddenly they want to know what they are worth. Then, an ad goes up in the classifieds asking for the highest price they might have seen/ heard about, and they get zero bites. And they wonder why...

These guys are collectors, not fools. Try your get rich scheme somewhere else.

The thing is, all wannabee non-enthusiast boombox sellers all seem to come up with exact same 'original idea' - stumble across a box, join Boomboxery, pretend to be all enthusiastic about the box and then try and flog it. Their radio might be rare but chances are it's old news to genuine Boomboxery members.

There is a reason you have to hang out at Boomboxery.com for a certain amount of time before you can sell. The thing is, there isn't a specific 'number' of posts you have to reach. If you just bump a pile of prehistoric threads, then you will probably never get sellers rights. You have to contribute. That way, members get to know you and one day, maybe trust you enough to take a chance on a purchase - (bypassing all the usual EBay buyer protection rights in the process)

Don't worry, there will be some genius trying the exact same thing soon, very soon.......... and then we'll all have to go through this same boring crap again!

Rant over, sorry guys! :-/

Yup, what he said.

if someone joined and genuinely offered a box up with a cheap advertised price then that's a different thing, but they almost never do (I have seen a couple over the years over at S2G offer a free/cheap box) they're always after top dollar and think we're an easy target...at least be honest and say you've no interest in boxes just profit

The only things that DONT fetch top dollar on Ebay are 7-figure connoisseur cars, airplanes, real estate, stuff like that

I don't even waste my time selling here

People will lowball here, but then secretly bid top dollar for it on Ebay, and then if they win it they'll either keep it a secret or claim they bought it at a rummage sale. :-P  J/K

:) right on guys.

well to be 100% honest, i like the way these boom boxes look. i never ever thought they would carry the value that they do.
i really did stumble across it on a classified site, and then figured out what its worth.

sorry people constantly come in here and try and sell you all stuff super marked up.

i think that a classified section available to non members would reduce or eliminate the random people like myself coming online and doing exactly what i did. try and determine a value and all that.

maybe have 2 classified sections. one reserved for members and one for outsiders. just dont tell the outsiders thats its a seperate board.

then maybe yall can take advantage of people trying to take advantage of u and score some deals!

just thinking out loud here.

Hey Bill, I understand your trying to find a home for this radio.

The guys on this site (myself included) have seen it all.

As I mention in our PM, eBay is the best way to get the biggest money for your radio.

The thing is, we are so gun shy of people coming here scamming the forum. I'm not saying that's what you are doing, but that is the reason you got the reaction you did.

Believe me, if you kept that Lasonic and bought 10 more, you would see how welcoming this or any forum will be. But because we see jokers show up asking tons of questions, which require tons of answers only so they can make their profit and never visit the site again, we tend not to want to deal with it.

For us, it's frustrating. Hence the hostility.

Best of luck on your eBay sale.

I still think you should put some batteries in that baby and hit the park!

:agree:

Keep the thing man. You said you think it's cool and you got it cheap. Yeah you could make a profit, but why not enjoy a sweet looking piece of history. They sound great. Spend a little time restoring it you might fall in love.

ha. this is classic. iv been watching this goin on. not seen or realized that some people do this just to get to the for sale bit. i actually didnt even know the for sale bit had a post limit (prob dont worry me due to sending to NZ too expensive)

bigbil you should just give to someone here for the price you paid. or as everyone says, get another and another and another and another just to see which 1 sounds better

Can't believe people are bidding that thing up so high....

Wonder if it's anyone here. I guess tax return season is in full effect!

I guess granny is going to feel a bit ripped off right now.

Looks like bigbil got what he wanted after all.
