Hi fellow Boombox admirers.....

My names Justin and I am from Southern England, I recently was lucky enough to grab an Hitachi TRK 8600E. As seen in my avatar picture. I am absolutely made up with it and severley chuffed at grabbing it when it was pretty much gone on ebay......Im sure one member on here knows what I am talking about.

Anyhoo I have now just had my stereo die on me so its now pretty hard to tape CD's for my Ghetto blaster. I had read that Ipods can be played through these old beauties but being an Ipod virgin I have no clue as to how to get one playing through my new pride and joy.

Any advice would be great, Im so annoyed that all new stereos fail to come with tape deck facilities meaning it makes things hard to tape music onto cassette......

Sooooo thats me, I hope somoene has some advice, and am pleased to be here.

Happy Christmas one and all......J

welcome justin -
you sure did win a beautiful classic boomer --

i have not had that model here for several years -
but my guess is that yours has either DIN or RCA stereo jacks
on the back or side panels --
and then with the correct connector cord ( from any radio shop)--
you can run an ipod or a dvd player thru it

enjoy it

most boxes you can use with your ipod but you can probably get a cassette adapter if it does not work ,, check your box to see if you have a line in jack rca type ,, if its the din which will be a big round one you are going to nedd an adapter for it.. for your ipod you will need the small mini headphone jack on one side and rca on the other side...then just connect to the line in and switch your box to line in you should hear music ,, if not some boxes need to be in record for the line in to work ...... :-)

Welcome to Boomboxery, Justin. Great choice of first blaster too, she's lovely!

Although mine's a slightly different model, the set up below should get you cranking via line-in:

Be sure to put the function switch to Line In and be sure to have the volume around medium on your device you plug in.
All you should need is the lead, which is standard left and right RCA's to a small headphone plug.

Best of luck!

Rock On.

Wow.....thanks for the wealth of help and welcomes. Seems a cool place to hang out, I will most certainly get looking into hooking up an ipod, I wonder if there are any particular makes I should avoid or any that are better for the job?

I guess I need to take a look around this place, I cant wait to see the gallery and see what everyone else owns.

Welcome Justin, you've found the best site on the web. :-D

I think your model has the DIN plug but not sure otherwise it works as described in prior posts.

Where in the south are you from mate?

"Knowing me Justin, Knowing you Alan Partridge.........................................Aha!!!"

Im from Pretty close by to Guildford and Aldershot, a place called Camberley......Nice to see a local.

Back of the net.

Huge Partridge fan, hence the childish use of quotes.
