You know , I had one but sent it back because it didn't work with batteries. I've read that its been pretty common with the new ones.

First I've heard of that, that would make it less usefull for us boombox luggers.

I wonder how many people switched the ac~dc switch  ;-) That should do it

I tried everything, different packs of batteries, ac dc switch, it just would not work. And it was fairly recent so I don't know if the latest ones have fixed that problem.

yo i say strap the box to the bike and have fun with it.
lifes short and in twenty years are you going to want to talk about how you kept your vintage boombox on your night stand or how you blasted through the streets on your vintage stingray blasting the tunes.
you only live once man and in when you are dead your dead.

thats just my opinion.
to each there own.
why not snag the reissue of the lasonic for the bike.
dont get me wrong i love boomboxes but i love to live more.
i mean roman flys around on his vespa with one and i like the fact he does just that.
its like the guy i used to have a customer at work.
he had a pretty physical job and it was dirty as hell.
but he wore that old sub mariner his grand dad gave him every day.
dude i said do you know how much that watch is worth.
he said yeah, but whats the point in being a slave to it. i use it and i try my best to take care of it but if it goes it goes.
have fun with your sweet lasonic and your cool stingray

:agree:
also --EXCEPT :-D :-D

the BOX only lives once, also :-)
and if some previous owner had managed to keep it in pristine
condition for 20 years --

and --unless we plan to keep the boxes 'forever'

then --in the spirit of thinking about the NEXT owner-
it would be best to try and keep it nice
-------------------------------

i am very guilty of over-enjoying my boxes :-D
and have slammed a NICE m90 around on some
stupid wild golf cart rides!!

but --its my 2 cents -- thats its best to have a beater version

Boom Shaka Laka

Requiem Æternam
My 2 cents + Ira's 2 cents = 4 cents. And here it is...

I'm also one of those types that has a hard time playing rough with something that's been preserved for 25-ish years (Amy Winehouse, for example). Granted, I only live once (man, am I aware of that, being darned near the end of it), but owning boomboxes isn't just about me. It's about preserving these gems for the future, so classic boomboxes are still around when I'm not. I like Ira's solution: try to get two, a beater for everyday use and a nice one to keep in the hutch for when company comes over.

but if there was not people still using these old boxes eventually to the state of being used up there would not be any spare parts for them out there.

so one could argue that using up your old boombox to the point where it gets parted out is the most friendly thing to do to your fellow collector.
i mean if one m90 goes down in the line of service and gets parted out. how many come back to life as a result of those super rare parts.

theres always five sides to a coin.

well if the end is truly near there is no reason not to use them.
i mean do you really want et or the antichrist using your boomboxes. better turn them al on right now loud and strap them to your bike surfboard skate board wake board ironing board razor scooter trike harley rat rod and just crank the volume and drop the clutch and floor it.
i am going out booming man those effin ets will never take me alive.
