Help me. I can't stop buying boxes. I really am developing a problem. I don't have it yet. Going to leave y'all hanging until it comes in. Feel free to guess. Maybe you might be correct. I'll only provide 2 clues.

1: It's New but I'm not going to say if it's Vintage or not.

2: The box has a Go Big or Go Home mentality ;-)

That's it...will post back on this post once it arrives with pictures. I think y'all will approve....I hope

Weird. I was sitting here earlier thinking just the same thing (staring at my recent "expansion" -- Ira Mel and Chris know what I'm talkin about )
But I thought about it and I'm just finally seeing some models I've been waiting a while to pop up, so as long as that doesn't keep happening, I'll be okay.... for a while. LOL

I think I got your package today bro. ;-) (perhaps a different color)
My only problem is lack of time, but winter should help with that.

Ok. FINALLY! It came today. Purchased this thing on the 11th. Just came today. Apparently this color is in high demand.

For those that guessed BUMPBOXX you got it right.

Opinion? Does it sound awesome? :-) - Looks great in red!!!
Well you've started a long (and my) opinion of this box....lol

For a portable device it's quite amazing. I enjoy it more on Bluetooth because I can adjust the EQ through my phone to get the "perfect" sound my ears like. Once I get that set I can Rock the heck out of it.

On the SD card mode you have to choose between the preset EQ modes with the remote which is ok but doesn't give you the control like Bluetooth using the EQ on your phone. I agree with what most have said about this being tuned more for outdoors but if the media app on your phone has a full EQ you can adjust the sound to sound great anywhere.

The "Red" color of the box is simply a wrap with an adhesive backing over over the gipson wood. If this box ever got really wet or was subjected to a lot of moisture you can count on it soaking up the moisture, bubbling and flaking apart. Also if you bump this into the corner of a wall while carrying it you can count on the wrap peeling exposing the wood underneath but that's to be expected. It's made of sawdust wood with a laminate finish. Most modern coffee tables in your house are the same way. **Please understand I am not knocking this box by this comment**

The carry handle had sone scuffs like other Bumpboxx's may have been stacked on top of it in a wearhouse etc.. Not bad but noticeable scuffs non the less.

My over all opinion of this box is this:

For the price you can't go wrong as long as it holds up.

Positives:

Sound quality once adjusted through EQ on the phone is amazing for a portable unit.

Loud as hell! My neighbor was cleaning his car out 2 houses down (approx 200 yards) and had his car radio going to keep him occupied. It's loud enough to override his ability to hear his radio resulting in a prompt middle finger... Hell yeah!!! Sound check...Pass!

It's easy to pair with you phone and the LEDs are a hoot to watch but get washed out outside in direct sunlight. Best for indoor or lower light levels.

Not Negative but worth noting:

Mainly just construction in my opinion. The carry handle looks like an oven door handle. But this box is BIG so it needs a BIG oven door handle ;-). A few screws and a carry handle bracket here and there crooked, scuffs on the carry handle and a few places where the "Red" cover was puckered and not adhered around recessed corners.

Overall: I'm enjoying my Bumpboxx and I am glad I got it. :-) A very respectable product for the price.

Bump on :-)

** Update **

You can record off the radio onto SD card HOW COOL IS THAT? Just like the good old days. It doesn't mention that feature in the manual. Just press and hold the Play/Pause button until rec shows on the display. It will record onto the SD card as an MP3.

The more I play around with this thing the more I like it :-)

There is also a "do-it-yourself" retrofit for increased tuner strength. If you remove the right speaker and connect the white tuner wire to the handle bolt inside you will get increased tuner strength.

That is nice to know. Thanks.
Anyone notice their power supply getting way hot during charging?

My temp gun is reading 142 to 144F.20161125_231523.jpg

Over 66 degrees C! I'd be keeping an eye on the charger.

I know MDF is easy to work with and is cheap but I can't help thinking plywood would have been a more durable material to make an outdoor Boombox out of. As MDF is basically compressed paper, it wouldn't take much rain exposure before swelling or flaking of the outer casing started.

You should be ok though as long as you take care not to use water to clean the outer surface.

I suppose it wouldn't be too hard to replicate the Bumpboxx casing out of plywood if the original got damaged - a plywood box would be lighter & stronger too. You'd need some of that vinyl wrap though. :-)

James..... :-)

I have the bumpboxx too the graffiti version. My only gripe is the radio signal is weak to me. So I will definitely do that mod!

Sweet! These things are starting to take off. The radio is only slightly better once you reconfigure the antenna. Just keep it powered up and try different locations until you achieve the best results (which will only be moderate if any at all). I could just use my iPod if I wanted to listen to the radio. The biggest let down for me was finding out this is a monaural device. The ability to record somewhat offsets that but as loud as this thing goes can you imagine if it was in stereo?

Maybe the Amp is capable of stereo sound and someone will come up with a mod that taps into the Amp so you can at least connect a stereo line feed through it. Oh well it still sounds good for the most part and it serves it purpose.

Does it have stereo wide or ambience options? How is the stereo separation?
It has built in eq presets. It does not have wide of ambience settings. It is not an audiophile boombox. It was designed to be a street boombox. It is split mono sound. Soundstage is narrow...sound projection is wide and loud. Bass is fantastic. If your source recording is good it actually has very good sound. It is the perfect street box. Great sound projection outdoors without distortion. It's not an M90 or a 5350 and it's not trying to be.
