imvo --those rings are the only weak part of the great 7700 design --

and they seem way too common on so many of the 'lesser'
pioneers, pannys. toshibas and sanyos --

like -- waddup wit dem ???
:agree: with Ira.

Love the 5700 norm but you have a whole gaggle of sweet boxes sitting on that desk.

Excellent comparison Norm! I definitely need an RX-7000 in the collection.

I think I'll actually get another 5700 too.. mines a bit 'tired' sounding and has a couple
of cosmetic issues that annoy me greatly.

Thankfully it was only about $20 on yahoo (+postage of course), I'm sure my current
one will be handy for parts.

The DISCO M sticker is a huge draw too!!

That's funny Rick, I was thinking about getting another one too.

There's just something about the RX 5700......

Ya, those Panasonics/National look pretty sweet - and sound great too. Never heard 5700 though - so thanks for the review! :-D

Ok, thanks. If the VU's light, then I'm pretty sure the dial is supposed to light too. It wouldn't make sense to install a momentary light on the VU's only, now does it? More likely your dial lamp is burnt out if that were the case.
Well.......

I did wonder about that, but......

The little press switch for the batt test turns the light on the VU's when pressed. i.e. momentary.

So I wasn't sure.
Sorry for opening an old thread but I thought the 5700 has no tuner/meter lights. I would like to know if someone could post pic of it lit up. Thanks
