Looking at the National RX-5400 vs RX-5600, in pictures mind you, and wondering what's the differences betwix the two? In terms of features, quality, colours? They look so similar while having obvious but indeterminable differences.
Thanks for looking :-)

I've seen a LOT of variations of this Panasonic on yahoo over the years.
There's different bands, tape functions, cosmetics, etc. But nothing that, I believe, would make one
massively different to another.

Unless theres some power output differential I'm unaware of.

Rock On.

The only difference I can spot is the more expensive RX-5400 has Metal tape capability.

Hmm, how curious that the 5400 has more capability and is higher in price while being lower in series number. Usually it's the other way round isn't it?

Not always, sometimes they bring out a later, defeatured model at a lower price.

I think the 5400 has a music search system where the 5600 has the big needles. While, in my humble opinion, the needles are much neater, the search system is probably more expensive.
Also, the 5400 is dark grey.

The 5400, though doesn't have needles, is much better looking than the 5600, due to its gun metal color. They sound the same to my ears.

If I read that adv right, it seems that the 5600 is the one with metal tape capability, and the 5400 does not, which makes more sense and gives a huge jump in frequency response. Could be that the models were released at different times, thus accounting for different pricing.
