........this past thursday!! its been sitting at my apartment office since then. they just called me today. im over it.

well i have to say.....me likey.

im more of a "silver box" kinda guy....and i prefer bass and treble knobs. but this thang is pretty damn decent. never saw one up close before. i might just keep her.

i knew about the broken antenna, the broken clip on battery cover, and the saggy stop button. but i didnt notice the broken faceplate around the top tape deck. other than that and the fact that its dirtier than all hell.....id have to say im pretty damn happy with my purchase. im gonna start takin her apart tonight and give her a good cleaning. dont think this one will fit in the dishwasher.

at first test....the LEDs stay fully lit when the line-in is playing. is that normal?

here are some pics. i'll post some more after i clean it up.

The 931 is a very loud box with impressive bass. The eq can be adjusted to make it sound quite nice...it is a little shy on the treble though...but I really like mine. Nice find...

Nice clean up... Lasonics are awesome, I own 9 including all 3 trc931 editions. The problem your experiencing with input is that it's a high amount so it will show on meters.. Mine does this as well when I hook a cd player to input... So no worry on that :-). Good luck getting the parts you need...

Bill is right, if you turn the volume down on your mp3 player till you see the lights do their dance then you've got your input volume correct

Great clean up job mate. Those before and after pics really show a differance. I really want one of these but dont come up to often in the uk.
Can also join the knackered screw-post club

Looking very clean now!

And the function switch also seems to be in good condition (quite rare)
whats that all about? is it because there isnt much travel be tween the functions that people over did it and broke em?

i actually have to disagree on that (so far). when i put that 8kHz switch all the way up i was pretty damn impressed with the highs. treble is always a concern for me. i used to have 4 12" kicker solo-barics, with 2000 clean watts pushin em, right behind my head in my 91 nissan extended cab. needless to say my hearing is poor, and crisp highs seem to evade me even when other people say the highs are there. but the 931 impressed me.

.

The switch is a weak point at this box. :-/
Be careful with it.
At some boxes it is broken (also mine)

about the rest: Great box!

The function switch has a plastic gear inside with a plastic slide that glides inside of switch...Problem is due to age and wear the gear and/or slide breaks  The band switch has same setup but because its not switched as much it tends to last longer :hmmm:

Thanks badboybill. That makes sense. This one is intact and seems tight.

No comments from senor monchito? I thought he was the Lasonic master. I just can't go on living without his approval!

Nice Lasonic.

I think a new plastic graphic for the top deck could probably cover up most of that damage and make it look like nothing's wrong from most angles...

When you get a chance, can you go inside the battery compartment... I'd like to know the manufacture date on the sticker... I'm guessing 1988. :hmmm:
