by the way,im inclined to agree with d8614ss regarding quality of sound output-after owning both the philips and jvc mentioned,the philips may not match the jvc for looks or build but it beats it in sheer bass performance-you have heard nothing till youve heard a d8614! :superduper:

I've just won one on eBay for £26.66... :breakdance: After reading all the positives about it I'm getting rather excited about it arriving now!!!...How does it compare to my GF-575 sound wise???

I saw that one, looked in good nick and can't go wrong for £26! Haven't compared the two side by side but they're both good sounding boxes, congrats on the bargain!! :)

I can say when comparing to a 8634 MKII, the GF-575 has more power. And the bass slider gives much more low end than on the Philips. Though Philips has the loudness button (which I think should be ON all the time). I'd say GF-575 beats the Philips in sheer volume, especially on the low notes, but gets beaten by the clarity of the Philips's sound. Both have piezo tweeters which don't do squat. :-/
