i just love that 9191 si-i got mine off my main man d8614ss,who had treasured it for a long while before i got it-it has a wonky capstan shaft that i need to put back into shape and change the belt but the tyre itself looks ok-i shall be partaking in those repairs very soon-all being well! :breakdance:

Good luck on the repairs!...mine was pretty easy to work on and the 9191 is well worth the effort...gotta love such a handsome box but gotta love it even more when it all works perfectly! :-) got a new tyre for mine from a cheap plastic Aiwa I pulled apart just to see how they work!! ...gotta sacrifice the weak for the strong to survive!

As alluded to earlier, the 9090 and 9191 do seem like an item.

I would like a 9191, but man the price is nuts in the UK.

That is a good array of boxes there. Just enjoy them. That's what I like about it all.

Cheers

Thanks guys! Yeh the 9090 and 9191 are a mighty duo...my 9191 wasn't pricy but I have seen them go for a fair few quid

yeah si,ive got tonnes of parts ive stripped from old boxes so ill probably give it a look over....only problem now is i think she is going to need a new motor,as somethings jammed and the motor is overheating-this is before ive done any work on it so unless i get a new motor or complete deck for it its terminal im afraid

That's a shame, I suppose it depends how bothered you are over the deck...has a mixing socket that works well and I use an fm transmitter that plugs into my iPhone as well so it's still very useable and of course just as beautiful!

well si i do enjoy the 9191,thats for definate, but my technical expertise and soldering skills lack a certain finesse required to do this box justice....i can do both, but not always with the best results  i will probably be moving her on soon ;-)

Nice Collection. I'm bidding on a D8444. How do they sound. It'll be my first Boombox. Well my first since I was a kid.

Good one to go for! They're not quite as loud or bassy as their stunning good looks suggest but mine sounds fab...the spatial setting is great. So as long as you don't expect it to knock a wall down you'll love it :-D I like my silver one so much I've bought a second one in grey just so I can put them side by side. In the UK you can easily snag them for less than £100 so they're pretty good value for money. Good luck with the auction!...let us know if you get it!
