no problem rick ,i only measured them to put it to rest that this box does indeed have 8 inch woofers ,i'm pretty sure they are the exact same as the crown sz5100 woofers only in black ,by they way those boxes kick ass i just wish i could find a lp door cover for my vz 2500 then it will be complete :'-( .

Nice collection! I am wonder though you were dissapointed with RX-5500 sound - it use to be one of my favorites and I am still looking to find one. Can you tell what was wrong with it compare to RX-5600?

The 5500 I have sounds tired and lifeless. I read so many reports on here about the quality of their sound I was very disappointed by mine. Mine sounds terirbly average, nowhere near the presence of a similar sized JVC or Aiwa. That said, maybe the caps on mine are needing replacement or theres something else amiss inside her.

The 5500 is kinda weak on bass, but it has more than a 5150.

And it lacks a Wide setting, so it's not very spatial, but the "accuracy" is top-notch. It's my best box for vocals, classical, or acoustic guitar.
