I am pretty shure that the tweeter is not optimal for your new woofers.
Not talking about the loudness as you can adjust that.
I would look for one that has freq response that overlaps nicely with your woofers,
as I assume your replacement woofers dont cover mids as easily as originals and goes lower in bass.
Also newer tweeters handle more mids.
Not shure if you opened but I'm pretty shure its just a simple paper tweeter on a modified mounting,
similar to what I found in the jvc m70.
My experience/preference would be silk dome tweeters over paper and metal tweeters
