Today Member's Fresh Produce (Peter) & Mac Daddy Freshness (Adrian) stopped by for some blasting, restoration and repair work.
They brought by a bunch of boxes and we worked on a few.
Peter got a cassette deck crash bar for his JVC RC-838 so we opened it up, pulled the chassis and speakers and did a quick rinse out and cleaning of the case which was filthy with dead bugs and dirt. We installed the crash bar, sprayed and cleaned the controls and reassembled.
Another 838 looking and playing good!
Adrian brought his Helix HX-4700. After a little testing we found the pizo tweeters were fried (Big Shocker). So, like my Helix HX-4700, we swapped in some new tweeters, pulled all the grills, cleaned out the box, pulled and cleaned the EQ and knobs with deoxit, replaced some of the screws, put some crimp connectors on the wires to the clock so the rear case can be fully removed without unsoldering anything, cleaned the decks, moved the blue tooth antenna from deck 1 to the cassette storage compartment in the back and installed the new custom made "Better than nothing" Knob!
The new tweeters made a world of difference and the box sounded great!
Here are some pictures...
