Magnavox D8443 broken record lever what to do?

NICE! SITE!. looking for help with a Magnavox D8443.. works great but the lever on the record button is broken and the tab is missing..
trying to figure out the best way to get line in working.. radio sounds great, tape player works sounds ok, not sure what to do with this radio.
heres a pic, you can see where my pointer is, the tab holder is broken, theres a metal tab that slides in there to push down on the record function on the board.. what to do?

What I did with mine was using these tie straps. I cut a short one and attached with tie strap to the L shaped lever. The short piece needs to hang over a bit as to push record bar in. You may have to mess with position so it don't get hung up on anything. I will tell you this, the line in S-cks on this box. Good luck!!!
