As to the magnavox -- if you like it, just get it. Don't worry about other's opinions of which is best or better, because then nothing in between matters anymore. There's entry level, top of the line and everything in between. And for collectors like us, there is a place for everything.

99% of the time a cheap box will not sound that great. You are shopping based off your price and looks. I am a hardcore magnavox man and have been forever but when it comes to the BBXs, they just make you want more. I'm not saying don't get them, but there are handfulls more boxes that meet your price range and sound very good.

Get those Magnavox boxes if the price is where you want to be. They are still nice to have in a collection, plus the one with the strap is awesome to look at .

The 8300 is a good box for the money, they typically sell for well under $100.
Like others here though I would look for other boxes if possible, you never know what your going to find but if you are patient and persistent you'll score something good.
