........but my Ben can produce highs that are over powering if the treble is turned beyond flat.

That's my kind of blaster and is why I got into collecting boomboxes in the first place :w00t: .Bass has been the focus in recent years at the expense of highs.Good or bad, abundant highs are what define a classic era box IMO."Balanced" sound is often boring to me and is better suited for home component stereo.Dynamic sound is what a boombox is all about.I've heard this about the "Big Ben" before and I hope to have one someday! !

Jovie, I've got plenty of boxes that don't have much bass and couldn't save themselves from the dumpster if they had to play "Balanced" sound. I like having a variety, If all I wanted was big bass I'd just by a Kaboom and be done with it.

My Ben has the most pronounced high's, almost to the point of ear splitting if you crank up the treble to max which is why I don't boost the treble on it.

I also have both, but I also have had at least 4 of both over the years...Beautiful styling in the Big Ben, I kept the silver japanese version, and it sounds amazing, but as others have said, its no boomer in comparison to an M90. Not to say its quiet--its not.

But the M90 has the ability to be turned up to 8 or 9 and stay cranked without distorting if you are lucky enough to find a like new one...I like to classify my radios into outdoor(basketball court, I coach), and indoor(study/library--I read;-)).

Big Ben is amazing in any study, super beep btw, 8 inches I would say. the M90 is longer, shallower and slightly shorter, easier to carry and it seems tougher, like it could take a knock a bit better although I'm not testing that theory!

BIG ben is the first boombox I owned that I sprained my arm/shoulder on while swinging it around. :w00t: Since the average size of my boomers got bigger since then, I've sprained my arm a few more times (including right at this moment). But I'll never forget the first time.
