I'm not shocked by the high BIN since it comes with the original box from the original owner (any proof?) but that's a lot of bucks no matter how you look at it.

Since he has a make offer button you can bet it won't sell for $1099. :nonono:

The seller is lying outright about the M70 having a retail price of $499. The M50 was $193 and the M90 was only $274. Plus, he says he was making $2.75 / hour at the time he bought it. Minimum wage in 1978 was $2.65 / hour and $2.90 / hour in 1979. That means he would have bought it before 1979. I didn't think the M70 came out until '81? The seller's story just doesn't seem to pan out at first glance.

This looks similar to another recent M70 auction - with asking price of $989, and selling price of $500

There's also Aiwa 950 on ebay with asking price of $600 - it's at least 6 times what it's worth - with non-working deck and all :nonono:

Vladi there will always be those sellers who think just because it's a 30 year old box with a tape deck and speakers it's worth $1000.

Don, I'm one of those sellers myself! When I was criticizing the $600 price - I meant it wasn't high enough. This Aiwa should totally sell for $1000

With that kind of logic just what's in your avatar is worth about $20,000.

It's cool to see the original JVC cardboard box. While looking at it, I was imagining Christmas morning in 1981 after tearing off all the paper... :w00t:

back in the day in canada the land of being ripped off for being canadian these were about five hundred bucks.
we always paid a premium for stuff up here i dont really know why considering jvc had a plant up here.
not to mention we have a huge port here in vancouver.
anyways i always remember the excitement of heading stateside back then.
it was like going to a fifty percent off sale on things.

Hey Vladi, I won that other auction where the guy was asking $989 and accepted my offer of $500. Guess what happened next. I paid for the box, the next day the seller refunded my money to paypal then sends me a note saying he refunded it by mistake. So, I sent the money again and two days later he sends me a message that the box broke during packing so he refunded my money again. Then, a few days later he opens an unpaid item strike against me which was quickly reversed by ebay. Then, he gives me "positive" feedback that said I tried to scam him. That sellers id is treasure_beyond82 . Stay away from him.
