*damn*.... the way those boxes must have flown off the shelf, I doubt it was ~breakfast~ you two were having in bed.... :hmmm:

Note to self:
Don't put boomer shelves on a common wall with my headboard.

I had a rather large Fisher boombox on my headboard shelving during the 1994 Northridge earthquake in Los Angeles. When the quake started I was in bed with my G/F, to shield her I roll over on to her and that damn radio hit me square in the back! Never again!

I have been thinking for a while on how to make shelves that would hold up in at least a small shaker. Nothing is going to save my collection in an 8.0 quake, but I would hate to see my radio's in a pile over a 3.0!

Thanks for this thread....it's good food for thought.

(How many guys are looking at their shelves right now thinking "I wonder what screws are holding them?"

Yea speakers survived without a scratch. I'll try the glue and go from there. I haven't even tried to power it on yet. I'll leave it alone for now.

Terrible!
I feel for you Jboogie.

I had my Pioneer SK-550 fall off my very top shelf and now it doesn't work.

Bloody awful when this happens... Hope you can revive the lost Lasonic.

Rock On.

I haven't even tried to power it up yet. I did have you in mind today tho. I was actually considering sending it to you to see what you can do with it. After seeing what you did with the M90 ya got me thinking about spraying it up in a dark hue and possibly even a repair job on it. If that suits you let me know. I'm quite interested in the idea.

In the words of a wise man "DOH"

I've freaked myself out more than once wondering what would happen to my boomers if we got hit with a large earthquake, yeah I'm in Cali.
Yikes! :-O :-O :-O :-O :-O :-O

I'm in Cali too. If I put any boxes on a shelf, I'm going to use earthquake straps to secure them:

Very sad to see that happen. My GF-5959 fell once, from quite a height, and the case cracked in various places. :-/ , I've still got it but it looks terrible. It used to be my favourite box, but thankfully not when it fell, I'd bought nicer and better boxes by then. It still made me sick to the stomach though, looking at it broken, it wasn't long before the accident I was polishing that box. It's in the way at the moment, so it won't be here for much longer. By the way I hope you can fix the Lasonic.
