I'm sure we have all seen auctions that start out at $0.99. But... how many times have we actually won something really cool for $0.99 because nobody else bid on the item? Of course, shipping isn't factored. ;-)

So, here's the deal. The item has to be a boombox, walkman, or anything related to portable audio in some way and the price had to be only $0.99 before shipping.

I'll start off with my second most recent score. The seller had it listed as "a cassette disc walkman with radio" and only had a single, close-up picture that was horribly blurred. However, I recognized what it was and knew that it DID NOT have a radio and it also DID NOT play a disc. ;-) I placed my one and only bid of $0.99 and waited for the auction to end. Lo and behold, I won!! Shipping was listed as $2.00 and I quickly paid with PayPal. It finally arrived three weeks later.

It is a Sony WM-5 with original bag. All it needs is a new belt, which has been ordered. :w00t: :-D

great win --- :-O

plus if you make a gigantic ebay//paypal fuss about the 'no radio' bit --
you might score a 40% refund --
and have it for 59 cents :hmmm: :-O ;-)

No .99 cent deals yet. :( I think the only way to get one though is if the seller mispells it or lists it wrong. It seems to me that if you list it under: boombox, vintage boombox or ghettoblaster you're going to get at least a hundred views.

And I assume freebies need not apply... no dumpster dives or "Aunt Edna gave me Uncle Joes M90 for sanding down her bunions" kind of stories... just those less than a buck, more than nothing PURCHASES. OR does it have to be EXACTLY $0.99 :hmmm:

I gotta check... I think most of my low-money purchases would fall into "I had to snipe the $0.99 item for $1.04 at the last second" type deal-e-o-s.... :hmmm:

No freebies, but I guess anything less than $1.00 (before shipping or tax, I guess) would count. Dude, a $0.01 win would be the awesomest!!

That Hitachi is nice! It sort of reminds me of the red ghost from Pac-Mac.

Just can't find any electronics that cost me 99¢... at least, not that I can prove. Here's the lowest I can prove: a WM-FX-41 for $1.95. But I'll keep looking.

My only starting-bid win for 1euro was this SHARP GF5454 in mint condition.
Was discripted as "transistor portable"
Only self pickup, 10minutes away. So no additional costs
