I hope their factories are already cranking out 931 mode select switches!

 Would be great!

Altho I've heard complaints about these mode select/function switches breaking, I can't relate to this...

None of the switches on every Lasonic I've ever owned, going back to 1987, have ever failed.

I'd bet that half of the surviving TRC931s have broken band selector or mode switches. But I'm not holding my breath for Lasonic to remanufacture them. They are soldered to the boards making them not easy for the average person to replace.
band selector switch-elongated rectangular piece :

function switch-similar looking piece:

The shaft with the knob fitting runs out of the backside of the switch/circuit board to the hole for the knob on the front of the box in each case.

Also the switches are sharing circuit boards with a lot of other parts.Since they don't have dedicated boards there's no way to simply snap a new switch into place.

There are so many of these boomers with this defect. Its truly a crime that a tiny plastic switch gear can cause so much grief and render so many classic blasters unusable (at least in part).I suppose its possible that Lasonic has old switch parts they could sell which would be beneficial for those with soldering skills. We can only hope this is the case. But for most having a 931 with a bad switch this would not be any help.

Sweet.
What worries me is the limited stock. I bet these are originals and not repros. what happens when they sell out? Will there be any more? I'm keeping my figers crossed for more parts. Thanks Lasonic.

Lasonic stated these are NOS and not reproductions, Lasonic is not going to reproduce any vintage parts.

OK, for the Lasonic rumors- about a year ago, i heard that Lasonic planned to reproduce the original 931 in lieu of the ipod dock would be a cassette player-- if there is any truth to this, then finally, someone is listening- as collectors we have our favorite boxes but there are a few that we would all agree that the companies that are still in business should reproduce- identical to the original specs, my wish list would surely include a JVC - RC-M90JW , JVC RC-M70 JW, Lasonic TRC-931 and JVC DC-7 (portable turntable boombox) I am using a DC-33 right now- it`s a hit at our seasonal camping spot- ppl bring their vinyl and the night goes very, very quickly.. :-P

I can't see ANYBODY making a new turntable box, even if it is an exact reproduction of an 80's box.

Those other boxes should get the green light - especially the M90! Tell 'em to update those woofers tho...
