In my unscientific (lift one box box up with the right arm and put it down, lift the other box up with the right arm and put it down) test, the 920 "feels" heavier than the 931. I wish I still had a working scale to confirm this tho...

Regardless, I think you've sold me on the idea of getting a 918 in the future.

Hey Guys, after reading the full thread, I think I'm ready for a 918.

I have to agree the 920 is a great box. Good carrying size and weight. Great sound and performance. It does eat batteries when your twisting the volume knob. But it's built like a tank and I think they look great!

I had no idea the 975's were so "Dainty". I have been told many times that they are a cheaply made box. Bummer. I think they look killer!

The looks on the 918 seems subdued. As mentioned in a comment above...

But I bet it could grow on me! If its performance is close of the 920, the box I love...then I'm down.

Thanks for the sales pitch.

one thing you would never expect from lasonic ,the trc 920 has a weighted flywheel on the tuner dial knob.

MZ I think the prior owner probably tossed it because the radio appeared dead. We know a little secret called De-Oxit which quickly brought the 918 back to life just by using it on the Band Selector buttons.
That was a cheap gamble on my part, I just couldn't walk away from this sweet box. :nonono:

Hey, I was just thinking of something... Does the TRC-918 come apart in 3 pieces (back, middle and front) like the 920? :hmmm:

Looks like just two pieces.
Most of the case is on the front piece, the back piece isn't much more than a panel that screws to the front case.
