TMR, sorry for necroposting but I just wanted to express my gratitude. Your fix really helped me. Sadly, for soldering I had neither equipment nor experience, so I took my Lasonic to the service centre. With the help of your pictures the work was done in a minutes and now my Lasonic's sound is maybe not the greatest but at least not shitty as it were. It really works! And I never really needed this EQ, now I use it's LED's only as design element.

P.S. In the nearest future I plan to stickerbomb my boombox and will upload photos of the result.
P.P.S. Sorry for terrible grammar, I'm from a distant cold Russia (it's actually pretty hot here now))))

ok.. well i grabbed one of these when they came out a couple months ago.. turned it on and EEEWWW it sounded like shiznit.. like it was over loaded with sound.. this is the first i931 i purchased.. and i heard they sound not so good.. but i didnt expect it to sound this crappy.. and on top of crappy sound.. the SD/MMC slot wasnt working.. i was mega pissed.. and i could have just returned it.. but i hate going through the PayPal process and having to ship it back.. just didnt want to deal with it.. i almost just tossed it in the trash i was so pissed.. well i put it in my closet for a few months.. and i am on vacation so i figured i'd tear it apart and see if any one here might want some parts.. so i opened it up and instead of tearing it down i resoldered all the connectors including the SD/MMC.. then i removed the EQ wiring and jumped the connectors on the circuit board.. so the EQ wasnt hooked up.. lets face it.. you get a preset EQ along with BASS/TREBLE and then they add a analog EQ?? why?? this causes (at least on mine) serious distortion.. now with the EQ disabled.. (but still receiving power for the LED's) the Lasonic finally sounds halfway decent! i'm not sure if anyone else is have this distortion issue.. but if you are.. i will show you how to disable it with no chance of killin your brand new Lasonic!

first remove the back of the boombox.. then look for the EQ wiring coming from the front of the boombox..

the 4 wires that are under the blob of glue slightly to the middle right and left of the large grey resistor.. they need to be removed.. just those 4 wires.. the other 2 are for the EQ power LEDS.. after you remove them you jump the 2 spots where they were connected as shown in the picture..

then your all set! you will still have the lights on the EQ light up.. but they will no longer have any effect on sound.. which in my case was a godsend..

now the Lasonic sounds awesome!
Hi even with the pics I don't get it !! I don't understand anything at all.... you talk of 4 wires but I only see 2 gry wires under the big black blob of glue... then I don't understand which wire has to be removed and what to solder;;;then where does this all white wires thing with the red one on the edge come from ??? it does not appear in the first pic then it's there??? sorry I might seem silly but the pics are very confusing and I know nothing of electronics...I am lost but I would like to do this because my I931 has a constant hiss noise as soon as I plug it it is very annoying
help is welcome!!
thanks

those 2 wires under the glue.. you need to remove them and solder a bridge between the 2 points as seen in the picture.. pretty simple really.. the other 2 wires mentioned are for the LED lights on the EQ sliders.. leave them be.. good luck!

Hello fellow brothers! If anyone comes back to this thread.I have a question. Why does this radio shut off randomly, is it the voltage regulators over heating? Sorry for my N00bery. But Ive used this for much partying and its finally gave up. Because two of the caps in the power supply popped? Any help?
