Good timing on thread...there is 2 coming off on the bay within a day. Although when they are timed like that with threads like this haha they always seem to go skywards

I've never heard a 922 yet but seems like that's when the downgrade of Lasonics began!!!! They just don't seem as well built...

don't mean to thread jack but the 922 sounds real nice and is built solid , i would consider the overall quality in this order.

#1 trc 920
#2 trc 918
#3trc 922

i love the top mounted controls on the 922 the tweeters are smaller than normal and the overall sound is not as tight as the 920/918 but still pretty damn good and is an impressive box to look at .

Well I got a chance to hold it but never heard or seen inside of one but just by feeling it and it's weight just made me think it was not as well built as 918 or 920!!!

It's definitely on my want list ;-)

Wow Melly, that thing looks GREAT! Makes my 920 look like a burnt turd  I need to work on that....

actually, I have been building two 920's into one 920 but it still doesn't look as good as yours

The 920 is so good, it's like it's not from the Lasonic family and it sucks to say that, but it's true. If all the Lasonic's were built like the 920 / 918 no one would give them shiat

I'm interested in your head to head comparo. The 920 and M70 are similar, but not the same. I have put mine side by side and they do different things with different music.

The 920 super shines BLASTING AC/DC's "Dirty Deed's Done Dirt Cheap" with the volume knob on 7. It's just F'n LOUD! It will do that all day long PERFECTLY!

I have also played Beethoven at dinner with the volume on 2 and the BASS pushed to 10 and it fills the room with lush full tones.

That is an all around BOX

BUT MOST IMPORTANTLY you enjoy it...

My work here is done.....Off to convert another non believer   :-D :vespa:

Well Chris you and I both have the 920 and the M70. I've always said the 920 will give the M70 a good run for the money ;-)

One thing I know is I've never gone over half way on volume on my 920 but have my M70!!!

...Chris you have definitely converted me on the 920, it is in a different class from it cheaper built larger siblings. I feel the 920 is definitely a worthy challenger to the M70. I will be performing indoor sound tests and outdoor sound tests at different volumes to really put these two boomers to the test. I can't wait to see what the results will be. I was also surprised at how nice the cassette deck sounds...I am surprised more collectors don't talk about the 920.

Hey Melvin has Norm got a chance to look at issue with FM stereo and LED? I just couldn't figure it out but was concerned it was problem with band selector switch!!

I usually push the 920 to the edge of the red stripe on the volume section, anything beyond that it distorts, but if you pull back the bass, you can go a little furth

I still haven't clocked as many hours with my M70 as others have (sadly, I have been nervous to just throw it in the car with a 30 hour pain job on it :-/ )

But I think I'll have to put the two side by side and let'em rip

The 920 has a decent deck, not a logic deck, but it still features Cr02 play back, auto stop and a gentle eject. As far as sound quality, I think the deck is right in line with other radio's I have and sounds good.

At some point I want to own a shelf queen of this radio, something so sweet Monolithic would own it, you know, like a piece of art that never leaves my house.

...I think you may be right, it doesn't click into place on the radio setting so I will ask him his opinion. It sounds like the tuner may need adjusting because the stations seem to tune in a little weak but everything else works great and the cassette has very good sound.

Have you had a chance to line up the 920 and M70 side by side yet?

...did some indoor sound tests today. It was 108 degrees so I haven't done my outdoor sound tests yet... :-D ...waiting for the sun to go down.

...the selector switch is mush...tried to move it to radio, then cassette and it feels very gooey now. Have to leave it in phono position until I get a replacement switch...oh well, that's the way it goes sometimes.
