After hearing a Lasonic 920 for the first time at the West Coast Meet I knew I had to get one. Chris loves them and thanks to him giving me a heads up I made a deal with Skippy and I now have one.
This one arrived in pretty good condition but had some paint issues. There were some black stains on the the front, top and side that would not clean off. There were also those same black stains on the middle section but I was lucky and was able to remove them with cleaner wax. The stains I couldn't clean I had to paint those areas. The back case also had the normal fading that occurs and the antennas were red-tipped Radio Shack replacements.
I started by stripping the whole thing down and was surprised that the case comes apart in three separate pieces. Once apart I masked off the writing and put the freshly polished chrome pices to the side. I found a paint to match the back case perfectly...Pewter Grey with a satin finish and used Dull Aluminum on the front case.
I think the results are very good and I now have a very nice looking Lasonic 920....here are some teardown pics along with the finished product.
THE FINISHED PRODUCT>>>
Next up I have to do a side by side comparison with the 920 and the M70 because this little boombox really sounds good...very good!!....
