nope -- :-)
but i actually do think there may be ten thousand box fans waiting for whatever
the NEXT kaboom series will look//sound like-
really.

my own primary prediction is that it will be alot more
like the 'junior' size --and with real solid sound.

MSRP = US$ 300
will sell well ---for the entire next decade :-)

Wow, I take a break, have dinner and, like KABOOM, 23 replies when I return. Well, I saw the smaller kabooms on JVC's website and looked at the specs. I won't be getting any of those. As for this one, like I said, I like it but now, it's like -- been there, done that.

Anyone here have one of those BOSCH portable boomboxes that include an MP3 CD Am/Fm boombox with built in battery charger and GFCI surge/power outlets, designed for use in construction jobsite? If we are talking about unconventional boomboxes that sound good, you'd be suprised at the power on that Bosch and although designed for a different purpose, I would place it into a category like the kaboom. You can power it using the rechargeable Bosch tool battery packs and when they are discharged, you can charge them back up. One other thing, it takes up less real estate than the kaboom AND you can get them for under $100 bucks! A terrific bargain in my book for a great sounding boombox. The only minus (if you can call it a minus) is that it doesn't include a cassette player.

Anyhow, I'd always wondered what a car audio system would sound like if put into a portable system. I guess the Kaboom is what I can expect from a project like that.

agree with both SD and floyd --

they are usually inexpensive on ebay --
they are not too big and clumsy

never had one --
but they are the most common boxes brought to our local
public beach -- so i have heard plenty --

and they are loud, powerful and sound pretty good -
most people who use power tools every day are bosch fans--
and those big rechargeable battery packs --
makes the day.

not even 1/2 the kaboom bass output -
but still --a very good deal :-)

if they had a deck - i would get one.

Congrats on the Kaboom SD....

They don't do a thing for me in terms of looks or desirability but everyone seems to agree they have decent sound with ooooodles of bass.

Kabooms are nice and all but , more about the Clairtone please!!!
Very curious about the sound on that one.
That box has some nice features. Does it also have buttons up top for presets??
I watched that auction run three times  Had I the coin
I would have tried to own it.
How bout a thread just about it with a full break down and photos.
That would be great as it is a rare one for sure.
I have only seen two or three including yours ever come up on e-slay
in the past four years or so.
Oh yeah congrats on the kaboom, they are kool for a bazooka tube looking thingy ;-)

Yeah, that Clairtone -- I will post more pics and other info shortly. Just got a lot of stuff to do right now. I watched it come up/down several times and under more robust conditions (economy), I would have bought it sooner for higher. However, when it came back up as straight auction w/no reserve, I didn't want to take a chance of losing that one. It's really nicer than I expected given my recent snake-belly of expectations to prevent more disappointment. It IS quite a large unit. I didn't size it up yet but it's almost as large as the RX-5350 and equally if not bigger than the RC-M90. Well, just look at the photo of the tape mechanism and the 8" woofers and you'll get a pretty good perspective on the size. Just FYI, the seller made a noble effort to package it but the box really was too short and there was hardly any space between the sides of the bbx and the carton. It has arrived with a small rattle inside, sounds like either a screw or small piece of plastic -- probably from the shock. However, cosmetically, it seems to have survived and is working so I'm not going to complain. As you all know, I've seen much worse packing.

Sorry norm but you know what my view is on anything made by cleratone, nice looking box though.

No Rim, I don't know your position on Clairtone products. Somehow, I have a feeling you are about to tell me though and I suspect that you're going to say they're junk .... :-)

I know that Clairtone did make some products on their own and I also know that they've OEM'ed some products. Anyhow, everything is relative so I presume you look through the filter of an M90 and with that in mind, I'm sure that most other boxes will fall certainly short in your mind.

Still, this is one nice looking box and I've got to say that aesthetics does play a fairly significant role in anything desirable. Anyone that says looks don't matter isn't being entirely honest. Anyhow, I'll report on this box in greater detail after I get a chance. I don't expect that it's going to impress you as it's no M90. However, if you are a fan of boomboxes in general and have an interest in expanding your understanding of other boxes that is maybe not in your collection then look for it. Otherwise, just ignore it. I frequently do when I see a discusion of something that I have absolutely no interest in.

Yep, rimmer, I do. Interestingly enough, I listen to my medium/small boxes more frequently than my large boxes, which is more for collecting. I've now got a new "beater" in the kaboom and if I could only find some place to put it where it doesn't take up all my valuable desk/shelf/floor/whatever space, I'd be using it a lot. Maybe I could stand it on end.... I wonder how that'll sound.

Your Clairetone shares very similar (if not identical) microphone facsias to my Radiotone. Or are they more tweeters?

norm !!!!

i guess i forgot to send you my special kaboom operating instructions :-)

you DO know about the 'under the table' placement -
we covered that before - right ? :-D

heres whats new -- or that you havnt 'invented' YET --

you last posts said that you like to use your lesser than huge boxes --
fine --but none of them have much of a heartbeat --right -??
correct :-D

however -- if you set your kaboom--down under --
and the volume to about #12 --
and the bass to # 4 or #5 --

then ----------tune your dinky little boxes to the same kaboom stations :-O

and i predict that you will be delighted to have that nice quiet SUB beat
to enhance your music --
--------------------------------------------
ie -- STILL awaiting some flowers :angelic: :angelic:
